Mi She'Anah
This under-utilized text comes from our Selichot liturgy. My setting is inspired by Machzor Lev Shalem which includes our matriarchs as well as our patriarchs. Like Dayenu sung on Passover, Mi She’Anah reminds us of all the revelations God has performed for our ancestors, proving that if the Divine answered them in their times need, so may God answer us.

Lyrics:
Hu ya-aneinu.
Mi she’ana le Sarah imeinu beziknata, hu yaaneinu
Mi she’ana le Avraham avinu behar hamoriya hu yaaneinu
Mi she’ana le Yitzchak beno k’sheneekad be’veit hamizbeiach, hu yaaneinu.
Mi she’ana le Rivkah b’heryona, hu yaaneinu
Mi she’ana le Yaakov b’veit eil, hu yaaneinu.
Just as God answered Leah in her loneliness, God will answer us
Just as God answered Rachel in her hour of need, God will answer us.
Hu yaaneinu.
Mi she’ana le Yosef b’veit ha’asurim, hu yaaneinu
Mi she’ana le Moshe bechoreiv, hu yaaneinu
Just as God answered Miryam at the well, God will answer us
Just as God answered Aaron with his incense, God will answer us.
Hu yaaneinu.
