“On your wedding day — on your day of rejoicing” — Song of Songs 3:11
As a cantor, one of the greatest joys is officiating weddings — a sacred privilege that I do not take lightly. Standing under the chuppah with a couple on their special day is an honor I cherish.
To ensure the ceremony reflects the unique values of each couple, I meet with them 2-3 times beforehand. This time allows us to get to know each other and to thoughtfully design a ceremony that feels authentic and meaningful. For couples from traditional Jewish backgrounds, I introduce inclusive, egalitarian options they may not have encountered before. For those from secular backgrounds, I offer a glimpse into the rich beauty of historic Jewish customs. Together, we create a ceremony that celebrates the Jewish future they are building together. the big day so we can get to know each other and design the ceremony together.
Raised by interfaith parents, I am proud to perform Jewish weddings for interfaith couples (within the United States). As a progressive Jew, I warmly welcome couples of all gender and sexual identities.
